Egg & Embryo Freezing

Freezing eggs or embryos lets you keep the option of having a baby later. Today's fast-freezing technique, called vitrification, gives good survival rates when they're thawed.

Planning parenthood on your own timeline

There are many reasons to want to wait before starting a family: career, relationships, health or simply not being ready yet. Egg freezing gives you a way to protect your fertility as it is today.

Egg freezing or embryo freezing?

Egg freezing stores unfertilised eggs. It suits women who don’t have a partner yet or who want to keep their options open.

Embryo freezing stores eggs that have already been fertilised with a partner’s or donor’s sperm. It’s often done after IVF, when there are good-quality embryos left over.

Fertility preservation before medical treatment

Some treatments, such as chemotherapy, can affect the ovaries. If you’re facing one, it’s worth talking about fertility preservation as early as possible. We’ll work with your treating doctor so you can preserve your fertility without delaying your care.

What to expect

The process, step by step

  1. 01

    Assessment

An AMH blood test and an ultrasound give us an estimate of your egg reserve. They help us plan the right stimulation for you.

  2. 02

    Stimulation

Hormone injections are given for about 10–12 days, with monitoring scans, just as in the first stage of IVF.

  3. 03

    Egg collection

The mature eggs are collected under light anaesthesia in a short day-care procedure.

  4. 04

    Vitrification & storage

The eggs, or embryos if they've been fertilised, are rapidly frozen and stored safely until you're ready to use them.

Questions

About Egg & Embryo Freezing

What's the best age to freeze eggs?

Egg quality and numbers fall with age, so freezing eggs earlier, ideally before 35, generally gives better results. It can still be worthwhile later. We'll talk through realistic expectations for your age and reserve.

How long can eggs or embryos stay frozen?

Vitrified eggs and embryos stay stable for many years. How long they can be stored is governed by Indian ART regulations, and we'll explain the current rules during your consultation.

Does freezing guarantee a pregnancy later?

No. It keeps the option open, but not every egg survives thawing or turns into a pregnancy. Freezing more eggs improves the chances.
