What is ICSI?
ICSI stands for intracytoplasmic sperm injection. For couples facing male-factor infertility, it’s one of the most important advances in fertility treatment, because it needs only one healthy sperm for each egg.
When is ICSI recommended?
ICSI is usually advised when a semen analysis shows a low count, poor movement or unusual shapes. It’s also used when the sperm has been collected surgically, or when eggs didn’t fertilise well in a previous IVF cycle.
Every couple’s results are different. Dr. Nimisha will explain whether ICSI would add real value in your case, or whether standard IVF is enough.
Evaluating both partners
About a third of fertility problems involve the male partner. That’s why a fertility evaluation always includes a semen analysis for the man as well as tests for the woman.
