What is IUI?
IUI, or intrauterine insemination, is a simple, low-intervention treatment. Washed sperm is placed directly in the uterus close to ovulation, which shortens the distance the sperm has to travel to the egg.
Is IUI right for us?
IUI often makes sense for younger couples whose tubes are open and whose sperm counts are normal or mildly low. It’s usually more affordable and less demanding than IVF, so it can be a sensible place to start.
If IUI isn’t likely to work well for you, for example because of blocked tubes or very low sperm counts, Dr. Nimisha will say so clearly rather than lose valuable time.
Preparing for IUI
You’ll usually need a basic fertility evaluation first: hormone tests, an ultrasound, a check that your tubes are open and a semen analysis for your partner.
